Platja de Ses Illetes is the most popular beach in Formentera thanks to the crystal clear waters that lap it and sand that has particular shade of pink.
Platja de Ses Illetes (Illetas) is located on the western side of the charming peninsula of Es Trucadors, in the north of Formentera, which extends to the island of Espalmador starting from Ses Salines. This idyllic beach is the most famous and popular of the island, thanks to the fine white sand mixed with powder of pink coral.
In front of this thin strip of land, at a little distance, some small islands stand, in addition to the mentioned island of Espalmador, such as Illa des Ponent, Illa de Tramuntana and Illa Rodona. Platja de Ses Illetes is located in the natural park of Ses Salines far away from the tourist centers and surrounded by dunes and soil rich in vegetation.
In some stretches, this strip of land is even only a few tens of meters wide, in fact it is possible to go from the beach of Ses Illetes to the ones of Llevant, walking across the road. They are so close that they are called “the twins” and have the advantage that, even if the wind blows, while on one side the sea is choppy, on the other side is certainly quiet.
Oriented to the west, it is characterized by a coastline, almost 500 meters, completely surrounded by crystal clear waters, with a shallow sandy bottom with a slight slope. On this beautiful beach you have the opportunity both to enjoy water sports such as sailing, water skiing, windsurfing and to relax under the beach umbrellas and also thanks to the rich marine life it is a great place for diving enthusiasts.
Illetes is certainly the most fashionable beach on Formentera, in fact here are well-known bars on the beach such as El Tiburon as well as some excellent restaurants such as Es Moli de Sal and Juan y Andrea, where you can eat some excellent meals fish.
A unique particularity that is found walking toward the northern end, going towards the island of Espalmador, is to find a myriad of sculptural compositions of various shapes, made with stones, by tourists who want to leave a testimony of their presence in some way.
Since a couple of years a toll equal to 6 euros per car and 4 euros per scooter has been introduced by the municipal administration for the access to the road that leads to the beach with the aim to reduce traffic in this protected area and encourage the use of bicycles that are not subject to this tax.
Moreover Platja de Ses Illetes can be reached by public transport service. Buses stop about half a kilometer from the beach. In addition there is also a maritime connection services with the port of La Savina and the island of Espalmador.
